Ghyll Manor Hotel and Restaurant is a country house hotel in West Sussex. One area that brings in a lot of revenue for Ghyll Manor is its use as a wedding venue. The amount of bookings secured for weddings was in decline, the main reason identified for this being a poor web presence compared to competitors. The website was a generic, templated design meaning it lacked emotion. The photography was not good enough to sell an expensive product and the content and attention to detail were poor.
This led to the marketers responsible for Ghyll to put forward a request for a new website and PPC campaign to promote Ghyll as a wedding venue. The brief was to design a new micro site to enable Ghyll Manor to compete with other wedding venues and ultimately sell more weddings packages.
After visiting the venue, exploring competitor offerings and creating mood boards, I then produced mock-ups which were reviewed and refined until a final design was agreed. The use of new photography, alternative colour palette, more appropriate fonts and attention to the little details, all combined to produce a “weddings” feel and a user experience compelling enough to evoke an emotion to motivate the user to contact Ghyll Manor.
The new website and PPC campaign led to 14 new bookings, a 70% increase in enquiries and a record number of pre-bookings for the subsequent year.
