Salty Soul Clothing

A personal project that takes up any 'spare' time that I have (warning: small children do not furnish you with much spare time!).

Salty Soul is the love child of my friend Aimee and me - a brand inspired by Brighton in the UK. The vibrancy and uniqueness of the city. The smell of the sea air. The blend of Victorian and contemporary architecture. The politics, the people, the street art, the music scene. The beach.

Salty Soul was born

Having worked together for over 15 years we created Salty Soul Clothing from a shared love of:

• Living by the sea
• All things Brighton
• Creating together

We combined those passions with the idea that clothing can be done differently. And thus Salty Soul Clothing was born.

Kind to the planet

We had the idea for Salty Soul Clothing... but we wanted to be part of the solution, not part of the problem that fast fashion creates. So we decided to use a drop shipping provider called Teemill. Teemill’s ambition is to redesign the clothing industry and end waste.

Teemill use natural materials, renewable energy and every product is designed so that it can go back to be remade. They have created new technology to make a circular economy model possible.

Iconic Collection

The wearable art works in this collection are inspired by Brighton and Hove's iconic landmarks. Celebrating the Palace Pier, The beloved old lady West Pier, Hove Peace Statue, Hove Beach Huts and Madeira Terraces Arches.

High Quality

For me and Aimee there’s a big overlap between quality and protecting the environment. Our designs are printed on clothing made from 100% organic cotton.

Organic farming methods are better for the people who produce the cotton and the ecosystem around the farms because they don't use toxic pesticides and fertilisers, this encourages biodiversity. Organic cotton is still a thirsty crop. So where it is grown is an important factor. The fields that grow the cotton for our products are in the North of India, where the monsoons fill reservoirs that supply almost all the water needed.

Once our clothing is worn out, it can be recycled by our supplier, diverting it from landfill. So a Salty Soul purchase is one that you can feel good about :0)
